What makes an action horror game replayable?

I know some persons who find it hard to replay a game a second time once they have cleared all levels, while there are some games people play over and over again, and it seems like a new game each time they play it, so what actually makes a game replayable?

As far as I am concerned, a horror game becomes replayable due to its dynamic gameplay and variety. Games with branching storylines, multiple endings (The Witcher 3), or randomized elements (Hades, Dead Cells) feel fresh every time. Also, games with deep mechanics or multiplayer modes, like Dark Souls keep players coming back.

Clearly this is something very particular to each person since everyone has their own taste, but for me as long as it has good gameplay, a good story, if possible a story that is not too heavy, it is enough for me to replay it again.

I think that a really great storyline with strange twists and turns could make a horror game playable. This involves having many options to choose different storyline scenarios while playing the game. This is a good thing about many psychological horror games where the player has the option to choose a character and different story related to that character in the game. Games are not just about killing your enemies. Games should be about psychology, thriller, suspense, and a great storyline as well.

An action horror game that has multiple endings would definitely make a player want to replay it. Also, if an action horror game has hidden scenes, a player might want to replay the game to see the hidden scenes and the experience.
