What are some common themes in zombie games?

When it comes to zombie horror games, some of the common themes we come across is fighting against lots of zombies, with an impossible odd of survival, fear of getting infected, the break down of society and so on.

I am not sure what kind of theme the original poster is talking about. However, as far as I know many zombie games involve themes related to the main character fighting zombies in a city where the zombie outbreak usually occurs. This may involves the main character mainly belonging to some kind of law enforcement forces. The player usually battles zombies in suburbs or even in railway subways.

One thematic feature of Zombie horror games is the fear of a total societal collapse. Infections always spread in zombie games and get to threaten the entire city. And the player has to find a way to survive it.
