Psychological Thrills or Jump Scares?

Every gamer is different. Some like psychological thrills, while others love jump scares.

Sometimes I want to play a psychological horror game that gets under my skin. However, I do not like them haunting my thoughts too long after putting the controller down or stepping away from the keyboard.

I also find that jump scares provide the immediate terror I sometimes look for, and games that have them also have their place in my gaming roster.

So, what genuinely terrifies you in horror games, the sustained dread of psychological thrills or sudden shock of a good jump scare?

I am mostly interested in playing psychological horror games instead of jumpscares. It is just a decision that I took, and I know that it is just the side of horror gaming that gets to my skin.

In my humble opinion, I prefer psychological thrills because jump scares can eventually become predictable. Psychological thrills often explore a player's mind more deeply, which can gradually build tension while playing the game. Hehe

I love playing psychological horror games and jump scares. Both have their way of touching my soul and creating more tensions to my skin.
