Some horror movies didn't quite live up to the hype that they get from the fans. Maybe it was due to good marketing campaigns for those movies. For me, ‘The Blair Witch Project’ was so boring and not scary. And the Cabin in the Woods was more funny than frightening.

Do you know any overhype movies?

Most of the movies termed horror these days are quite the opposite. I can see right through them and they give me no thrills whatsoever. It’s only a few ones that have managed to make the impression.
But the like of Exorcists didn’t for me.

I don't think Cabin in the Woods was meant to be scary. Gory, sure, but it reminded me a lot of Tucker & Dale vs Evil and Scream. It poked fun at a lot of the horror tropes and the nuances that came with them, oftentimes enforcing them for the purposes of the plot.

Yes, I also know two horror movies that I rushed to watch due to the hype, but was disapointed in the ended. Follows and The Babadook had a great story, but wasn't really scary to me .
