It's in development, we know that much to be true. How far along its development journey is, of course, anyone's guess. Let's start collating all the information we can find about Resident Evil 9. Leaks, information, screenshots when we get them. I'm excited for a new mainline entry into the franchise.

Resident Evil 9 leak has fans seriously excited

While nothing else is really known about the game, insiders claim Capcom has big plans for the sequel, aiming for a smash-hit in terms of review scores.

This comes from insider Dusk Golem, who recently claimed “not only is Resident Evil 9 just an ambitious game, there hasn't been a non-remake Resident Evil game that's gotten the level of critical success to get a 90+ critical score. Hear Capcom is gunning really hard to make this great.”

They continued: “I know some will say, "Well of course they want to make a good game," but in this case I mean they're hyper aware they haven't had a mainline non-remake RE achieve a 90+ Metascore since RE4 OG 20 years ago. Their hope is that RE9 will be received by critics & fans as a top-line entry.”

The director of the scariest Resident Evil is leading Resident Evil 9, which is just about the best thing Capcom could've said

Although we know virtually nothing about Resident Evil 9 at this point except that it's officially in development with Nakanishi in the director's chair, there's nothing more Capcom needed to say to fully capture my attention. We don't know if we're getting more Ethan Winters, more Leon Kennedy as my colleague Jasmine is desperately hoping for, or another protagonist and setting altogether, but we can be pretty damn confident that Nakanishi is going to scare the ever-loving daylights out of us.

Resident Evil 9 Has A Metacritic Page, Fans Are Hoping For A Trailer

Now, a page appearing on Metacritic isn't necessarily indicative of that game actually existing. After all, there's been a Half-Life 3 page on Metacritic for years and Valve hasn't spilled the beans on that just yet (thanks, PCGN). That being said, Metacritic pages don't pop up out of nowhere either. There's a reason why they've been generated, but that isn't always necessarily because the developer, which would be Capcom in this case, has registered the game. Only Metacritic knows exactly why this page exists, but there was a correlation between the publishing of a Grand Theft Auto 6 page and Rockstar's subsequent announcement.
