Has anything changed with horror games communities?

We've had horror gaming communities as far back as the 90s, where horror games enthusiasts can come together to talk about horror games and how much they enjoy it. Do you think that there have been any changes with how horror games communities are set up in the past and now?

It seems like the communities have become smaller but more tight-knit. For this reason, these communities are much stronger than they were in the past.
